Hi all,

I have a couple of questions concerning kgicon in general and the
MediaGX driver in particular. Any help is greatly appreciated!

1) What is the procedure for activating the kgicon. For example, if the
module has been built for a generic monitor, does setmon have to be
called after inserting the module? Does con2fbmap need to be called? Or
is it sufficient to simply 'insmod kgicon.o'? Are there mandatory
arguments that need to be supplied with the insmod command? For example,
'insmod kgicon.o kgicon_width=640 kgicon_height=480'. I have tried
numerous variants of all of these for both VGA and MediaGX and have been
unable to get an operating console.

2) Does the MediaGX driver support the 5530 companion chip? The source
and README files make reference to it. But when detecting the hardware,
the base addr for the 5530 is NULL. Is this valid? Below is a trace of
the log file with DEBUG_LEVEL=3.

/home/ggi/degas/kgicon/kgi/../include/kgi/sys/linux.h:332: checking
mem_region MediaGX control registers, base 40000000, size 65536, is

Notice base == 0!
