> I would like to use GGI with Mesa but in the console environment, so > using the svgalib wrapper would be my best bet? my card is an S3 > ViRGE... thanks for the help i appreciate it O.K. - let's see. 1. Mesa: AFAIK Mesa has some native S3 driver, but I don't know, if it works under Unix - it might be for DOS/Win only - anyone ? 2. SVGAlib: I don't know, if Mesa has an SVGAlib target, but I don't recommend using it, if you want to go through LibGGI. Mesa has native drivers for LibGGI and it doesn't make sense to put an extra layer in between. 3. Graphics drivers: > PS- i was originally just using svgalib but found it pretty restrictive, > i couldn't get any decent resolutions or even 16bit color depth... > someone recommended ggi as they said it supported a wider range of cards We do have kgicon drivers for S3 virges, but milage seems to vary with respect to the usability of that driver. To use kgicon, get a snapshot and descend to the kgicon subdirectory. There you find a README.install. Please note, the the Virge driver isn't known to be too stable, so be sure you don't put important data at risk. CU, Andy -- = Andreas Beck | Email : <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> =
