Hmm -- these are link-time libraries?  How does what you need differ
from sublib_LTLIBRARIES?

I tried a build with cygwin (haven't the directx sdk yet, but just
wanted to see how far it would get), but seems I need to figure
out how to go about installing perl as it didn't come in the cygwin install.
Maybe I'll get to that tomorrow.
