Hello list :-)

It took some time but the first results are worth it !
I know, it's only one limited microbenchmark but using
a few VHDL and C files, I have been able to demonstrate
a 400x speedup with a stock GHDL under Linux.
The results will be published soon, and the code
will be available at the usual address.

Of course there are a few tricks and gotchas
but I see it as a first major dent into the myth that "GHDL is slow".
The simulated code (behavioural) is (almost) synthesisable, though
the microbenchmark is not but that was to keep the code compact.

Further enhancements will come, both to extend the features
and if I was able to compile my own GDL, to produce even better code
(without the need of external C code). though my attention span is
limited...

BTW it would be great if someone made a Fedora virtual package that
imports and configure all the tools and files so one can compile GHDL
even more easily :-)
