Too bad. My C skills are probably not quite up to doing anything about it 
myself, unfortunately. In terms of looking up the bug in bugzilla: My bad, but 
at the same time developers probably do need some way of figuring out which 
bugs/requests for enhancements are most needed by users, and if you see a lot 
of people independently asking for the same thing that is information that 
could probably be of use to you in terms of setting priorities.

A search in our bug-tracker would have showed you that this has indeed
been considered a long time ago and that it would be a welcomed
addition. Since no one is actively working on it, it is not likely going
to be in 2.6 though.
