Not one that I know of. But I think you should save your *work* as .xcf anyway. All other image formats are for what you want to do with the images after having them processed with Gimp. If you switch to using .xcf as you primary file format and only export to .png (or whatever) if you are done with your work, you won't lose anything. Torsten
