I'm new to GIMP and graphics in general and am using GIMP 2.6.3 on Windows XP - not sure what plugins if any I have, other than Script-Fu.
I need to create a "halo" effect around a person's head. My goal is to use that image with another photo as a banner at the top of web pages. The halo will help soften the transition between the person and the other image on one side and the transition between the person and the background on the other side. I've looked at all the Filter menu options and none of them seem to do the trick...or I just haven't figured out how they would work. http://www.austincc.edu/about/ has an example (this site rotates through multiple image sets, all of which have the halo effect). Also, any tips on how I can download the GIMP help for easy access via F1? Any and all help is appreciated. -- Donna B.
