Sizes can be set with "custom".
I experimented with odd sizes and it worked quite well.
There are limits:It should be long enough for the paper transport to handle.
Another important factor is your Gimp calibration.
For instance when you set image size to 150x100 mm it should measure that on 
the screen at 100%! (Or in inches)
I use gutenprint-5.2.6.
