A GUI in Linux !

I am designing a GUI in Linux....
With two buttons and a text box.

On pressing one button, I want to send a 
message into the Text box,

then when i press the other button
i should get a new message in the TExt box !

Inorder to do this can i use GIMP ??? If not
what will i have to use ?
