Unfortunately, the question as it stands has no real chance to be answered because you have provided precisely zero information about your setup which drastically lowers your chances to get a sensible answer. How asking a technical question is supposed to be done right is pretty well explained in the classic HOWTO [1]. Hence please re-try providing full info on your environment (OS and its version, flavor of Git and its version, URL you use for fetching etc) *and* be prepared for things like being asked to run a network capturing software to see what really happens on the wire.
