The command
ps $$
will show something like
PID TTY STAT TIME COMMAND
12596 pts/1 Ss 0:00 /bin/bash --noediting -i
The question is what is showing under "COMMAND". In my case, it is
"/bin/bash", which means I'm running the "bash" shell.
Various different shells have different syntaxes for controlling the
"path" directories.
