>From [1], I gather that CRLFs in the stream is an entirely possible
reason for making git-fast-import fail.  How do you produce your stream
file?  If it's first created and then fed to Git (that is you're not
piping something producing that stream to `git fast-import`), try to
replace CRLFs with LFs and see what happens.

If the stream is produced by some tool (say, some other VCS) consider
filing a bug with them.
