That mailing list doesn't accept HTML emails, so make sure you send a text one otherwise it'll just get rejected. If a fresh clone can't fix your repository, then I'm afraid your remote repository might be corrupted. If you have SSH access to the host you can try to fix it straight on the remote, otherwise if it's hosted on something you can't SSH into (like Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc) then you'll have to make a fresh clone, fix it, and force push the whole thing to the remote hoping you won't lose too many commits / branches in the process.
