Jumping in, but… could you check e.g. downgrading GLib or GTK? It might be a pain to downgrade, but maybe make a custom GLib build and use that might be easy enough. If it's an incompatibility with one of the platform libraries maybe we could try and isolate the change that lead to that and see if we can fix this in Geany (or Scintilla).
