kneekoo created an issue (geany/geany#4397) I noticed someone [suggested to the Mint team](https://github.com/orgs/linuxmint/discussions/615#discussioncomment-10727774) to adopt Geany as the default text/code editor. The Mint devs actually looked at Geany, years ago, but apparently being unable to easily switch between a simple UI and the full one was the problem.
I don't mind installing Geany manually, but I'd love to see it as the default editor in such a prominent Linux distro. Would you consider adding an option to start the editor in simple mode?
