There's no way -- at the dev level -- to optionally filter out all non-alphanumeric characters (i.e., roughly the equivalent of what was ASCII <128 in the old days)? IMO they have no place in a "text" file.
Is there any way to search / replace on the 'positional' value of the character in the character set? I.e., search and replace with nothing everything higher than x?
