advice2020 created an issue (geany/geany#4593) "BOOKMARKS" I noticed that the Geany manual, as well as the `Addons` plugin both use the term `Bookmark` to refer to the `+` plus sign markers that can be added to the left margin.
"MARKER" However, the Menu Bar drop downs and `Preferences - Keybindings` section both use the term `Marker` For actions such as... `Toggle Marker` `Go To Next Marker` `Go To Previous Marker` ---------------------------------------------------------- "MARK" What can make this even more confusing is that Geany allows user to apply highlights to keywords, which has been decided on to be called `Mark(s)` For actions such as... `Mark All` and also CTRL+F = Find tool dialog button called `Mark` (I would prefer to call these something like `Highlights` but this terminology is already commonly associated with "selection" / "highlight text" so probably would not be a good idea) ---------------------------------------------------------- SUGGESTION BOOKMARKS Because the term `Mark` and `Marker` are very close and can both be used also interchangeably. I am suggesting to change any mentionings of the term `Marked` to be changed to `Bookmark` Throughout Geany application as well as the Geany manual For example `Preferences - Keybindings` actions such as... `Toggle Marker` `Go To Next Marker` `Go To Previous Marker` `Remove Markers` `Remove Markers and Error Indicators` Would be changed to `Toggle Bookmark` `Go To Next Bookmark` `Go To Previous Bookmark` `Remove All Bookmarks and Marks` (see LINK for explanation) `Remove All Bookmarks, Marks and Error Indicators` (see LINK for explanation) MARKS Then the highlight word action known as `Mark` can remain as is. ---------------------------------------------------------- This could hopefully help eliminate some terminology confusion within Geany, making all the labeling as consistent as possible.
