Review Comment:
   Yeah I'm not a fan of the default name repair (not sure if you saw 
https://github.com/apache/arrow/pull/12751#discussion_r846496712). But if it's 
preferable to just not support rather than use a simpler solution than the 
canonical one, I'm fine with that.
