Yes I agree, no need to go overboard right now, but in principle what I described is a straightforward design that would enable us to go from `shared_ptr<DataType> -> DataType` quite easily (albeit with a lot of mechanical refactoring), so we have the option to do it if it can't be demonstrated that it's worth it performance-wise. I think that once a new expression evaluator based on ArraySpan has been implemented that it won't be as serious of an issue -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
