Nightly wheels could also be used for that?
Projects like pandas and numpy also provide nightly wheels and not nightly
conda packages. Wheels have all kinds of packaging issues because of having to
be self contained, but for nightly packages that can actually help. The dask CI
has a dev build including the nightly version of pyarrow, and it has been a
regular struggle to keep it installing correctly using conda / mamba, because
once your nightly package is built against slightly outdated versions of other
packages than upstream in conda-forge, you get into version conflicts (again,
that's for pyarrow/libarrow and those have a vastly more complicated dependency
chain, so that might be less of an issue here).
(right now it seems it's actually just commented out in dask's CI because it
wasn't installing, but they should probably switch to installing the nightly
wheel)
