I have gone though the comments in this PR -- thank you @carpecodeum @Samyak2 and @scovich I would very much like to unblock other people working on various parts of variant_get in parallel. Thus, my plans now are: 1. Ensure the names for shredding align with the Variant shredding spec 2. Merge this PR in 3. File a bunch of follow on tickets -- several will be quite substantial like reading shredding objects, lists and pathing.
