Nine days on, this and #39711 are both still open with no reviewer decision, and the bot is pinging weekly. That is my doing — I opened this one ten minutes after @waterWang's without re-checking — so let me make it cheap to resolve. @waterWang was first and their fix is equivalent in approach. If a committer merges #39711, I will close this and port the coverage over as a follow-up: `HBaseIOCloseTest`, five cases, one of which asserts `HBaseSharedConnection`'s reference count returns to zero, and each teardown verified individually by reverting one at a time.
