So it sounds to me like we are converging on a consensus here. I think the next steps for this PR are to 1. resolve the outstanding comments / file tickets for additional follow on work 2. Send out some announcements / discussions on the mailing list / discord / slack (I can handle this later today if no one beats me to it) 3.
