#4119 (200841108) added the spark-4.2 profile against 4.2.0-preview4, and #4960 (884e0a675) moved it to the 4.2.0 GA release, which is what pom.xml pins today and what the PR build matrix in .github/workflows/pr_build_linux.yml runs. The preview releases are no longer a target. The one gap left for 4.2 is that there is no dev/diffs/4.2.0.diff yet, so the Spark SQL test suite does not run against it and README.md still calls 4.2 experimental; that is a separate piece of work from these preview-tracking issues and deserves its own issue if nobody has filed one.
