Review Comment:
   I don't think the bug is specific to grouped queries; can we try adding a 
query like `SELECT MIN(amount ORDER BY ts DESC), MAX(amount ORDER BY ts DESC) 
FROM sales_global`? I believe it will fail without this PR and succeed with it.
