@milenkovicm, after reviewing the updated #2638, I agree that this additional core gate is unnecessary. The integration now has its own excluded workspace, lockfile and CI, and connects through Ballista's existing codec and session-builder extension points. That addresses the workspace/dependency isolation concern behind this proposal. My earlier comparison against an integration in the root workspace no longer applies to the current PR. The integration still needs to manage compatible Ballista versions and its own release/CI policy, but that does not require an Iceberg-specific interface in core. I am closing #2731 in favor of the updated #2638. Thanks @NoahKusaba for adding the independent build boundary and deployment helpers.
