@sunchao, replying to your Sep 25 / Sep 29 review summaries: Thanks. Every item in the summaries now has a reply. The two P2s are covered by the inline replies above (upstream fixes plus new regression tests). The ancestor-compatibility concern is addressed by restricting the detour to the root of each projection item and filter condition (see the reply to Andy).
