A challenge here is the assumption that the next index is p+1, whereas it
could actually be p+r (any number).
For example, with 4 partitions and values 100, 100, 120, 100, if we choose
indices 0 and 1, the next one should be 3. However, with your approach, finding
the next index with the same value isn’t straightforward—it’s 1+2 in this case,
but it could also be 1+ any other number.
