Hello. I am a Git newbie.
I have been trying to clone a new Git repository today (git clone <git://link.git>), but the response is very, very slow. I am talking about a new repository, from a new project, which only contains a couple text files. It is really small in size. It has been over an hour, receiving objects is in 18%, and the speed is 5 KiB. I am using Cygwin on Windows XP SP3, behind a NAT, but with UPnP on and with no firewalls or any sort of port filtering. Also tried it with Ubuntu Jaunty on a virtual-machine (VMWare), but there I get a connection timeout. My web connection is perfectly fine. I can surf the web, use Pidgin and other network applications with no problems.
