When I test with my changes I get 27989.48 req/s. This is effectively the same. The variation of results from run to run for this test means it has at best 2 to 3 significant figures of accuracy. My test platform is not the best. Only 4 cores, and docker has been seen to have issues with thread starvation for mysterious reasons. But the results don't indicate this is a performance fix. Just a dekruft PR. The Au test and Regression test failures will be hard to chase down. I also tried a build that used the hide the version in unused bits in the 64-bit implementation of versioned pointers.
