210980c made a failing compile exit non-zero, but the partial .conf it left behind is already in place before any caller can check the status: `hrw4u in.hrw4u > out.conf` has written out.conf by then. Output is now buffered and written only when the input compiled cleanly. Stdout is all or nothing because its inputs concatenate into one document; an input:output target is withheld on its own and keeps its previous contents. --ast still writes a tree when it has one, since a parse tree is not a configuration and is most useful on bad input. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
