I'll try to take a look on this when I get home. Could you forward some mail message for me so that it is clearer to me what you are talking about regarding the hostname in e-mail messages?

Great to know it works unmodified in Ubuntu too. I'll update the article to reflect this.

I restarted the server (both Apache service and then the machine) after the reconfiguration. It didn't make any difference.


With /gitorious_client_host/ set as "localhost" now;
- if I turn off the HTTP vhost I get the message "Access denied or wrong repository path" - if I turn off the HTTP vhost *and* change the /gitorious_client_port/ to 443 (HTTPS) I get the message "fatal error" - if I turn on the HTTP vhost and leave /gitorious_client_port/ blank pushing works

Still no idea how to change the hostname as reported in the merge request emails.

The ServerName directive is set correctly to my actual hostname in both Apache config files.
