This issue was handled by the gitorious support email account, which is
probably better suited for problems using gitorious.org.

Short version: our git-http service can be a bit flaky at times, we expect
to roll out a new version within the next month. If you're having this type
of issues, you could try using "jit.gitorious.org" instead of "
git.gitorious.org" - this goes through a java based HTTP service. A word of
warning: jit.gitorious.org will go away eventually, but for users who cannot
use git/ssh because they're behind a firewall could try this until the new
service goes live.

Cheers,
- Marius
