I'd vote against using Lighthouse in this manner. I personally find it a bit
troublesome to keep track of stuff in there at times. Especially as it is
also the user facing UI for submitting tickets and bugs.

The mailing list may drop messages from time to time but cc-ing and
resending if you don't see the message show up would probably handle this.
I'm also not totally against posting a link to a branch where people can
click through to view the commits in question. Especially since Git still
doesn't want to talk to Gmail for me...
