PROGRAM DESCRPTION:
This seminar is a World Bank response to the growing interest in
many client countries in designing legal framework to enable the
effective use of ICT in the development agenda. Many countries have
already developed e-legislation frameworks and many others are
still in the process. Therefore, a number of World Bank?s client
countries are actively seeking know-how in this area.
A comprehensive, flexible and "future proof" legal framework is one of
the key elements of the enabling environment for a country's
e-Development policy agenda. This video-seminar will examine current
best practices, new legal and policy initiatives affecting
e-development, and present country case studies from different regions
and levels of development describing what works and what doesn't work,
with a particular focus on e-Commerce.
The videoconference will be conducted in English. It will be broadcast
live on the Internet and all relevant materials will be uploaded to the
e-Development Thematic Group website. Live Webcast will start at 9 am
EST on Dec.14: <http://webcast-ext.worldbank.org/streaming/live.ram>
