Note that you are talking about the C code generation.
You can also you alternate language code generation.
The GtkAda code generator for Glade generates very usable and even readable
code that scales up.

That being said, some more work is needed on the Glade side to support
"top level" widgets that are not necessarily windows, and a better
support for new widgets.
