I meant to give you a progress report... I got a clean build with ghc-4.04
as distributed in the linux rpm I mentioned...

...but the libraries didn't compile first time - although the error didn't
look serious:
Pointer.lhs:102: Variable not in scope: `toInt'
Pointer.lhs:103: Variable not in scope: `toInt'
Pointer.lhs:117: Variable not in scope: `fromInt'
...and I suspect I can fix those myself. But I haven't had a chance to try
yet.
