Hi there, thanks for the report - Andre reported the same problem a while ago, but I forgot to respond to him after having tracked down the cause of the problem (sorry, Andre.)
Anyway, a new 5.02.3 installer which I _believe_ works around the problem is available as: http://galois.com/~sof/ghc-5-02-3-1.msi It's a big download (~21M), but if you could try it out & let me know if it improves matters, I'd appreciate it. FYI, it does the trick on a local Win98 box. I'll spare you the grimy details, but this ultimately boils down to Win9x OSes having a (16k-2) length limit on Registry entries. --sigbjorn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jon Fairbairn" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, June 03, 2002 08:48 Subject: Install on win98 gives error > > I downloaded ghc-5.02.3 for win32 and Windows Installer. > Installing ghc basically worked except that I got > > > Error 1406.
