Not all of my patch seems to have landed. Support for home-package plugins
didn't make it in, along with my changes to the linker flags. Is there a
reason for the removal of home-package plugin support?
thoughtpolice: I've ported the tests from my old patch forward. I'll
commit when the last one stops failing (it depended on home-package
plugins).
