 Hi George,

 The compelling reason is that it already exists and is being used, only
 under a false and incorrect name. This extension would simply legitimate
 the use of layout for stuff that is not a monad, I don't even see a reason
 why monads should be so special with their 'do'. This is nothing
 overwhelmingly new or creative but just a simple reaction to something
 that people in the Haskell community seem to miss.
