 Thanks Simon and Nils for your clarifications.

 I agree with Nils that the use of the do notation for non-monadic
 structures should not be encouraged.

 As for notations for constructing lists, I like the current standard
 notation with square brackets, commas, and dots (for arithmetic
 sequences). The standard notation works very well for single line as well
 as for multiline indented and nested definitions.

 I do not see a compelling reason as to why Haskell needs an alternative
 notation for constructing lists.
