I have got into a stupidly stuck situation.
A stable recent GHC version is needed. ghc-4.06 is going to be such.
And it should be able to be built from sources: I want to see that it
passes this test.
ghc-4.04 cannot compile ghc-4.06 due to certain bug.
Hence, it seems, I have to install first ghc-4.06 binary
(for Linux - Debian - libc-2.0 - i386-unknown).

But where one can reach the binary for libc-2.0 ?
haskell.org shows GHC only for libc-2.1.
Our admistrator says the time for libc-2.1 installing will come not so
immediately.
