Those numbers sound completely wrong and I'd like to see a credible source before I believe them. As just one data point on Snow Leopard adoption, have a look at http://daringfireball.net/2009/09/snow_leopard_adoption_rate I would say that readers of Daring Fireball are fairly tech savvy people with an above average percentage of developers. But consider this, "it took about five days for 10.6 to pass 10.5" Five days from the release of the OS for 50% of the DF readers to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
