Hey Paul, Ira ---

Ira -- it hasn't soured me on online glasses at all -- I will try
another vendor, and a beefier frame. . . on examination after they
were broken, the plastic in these seemed as brittle as a Jolly Rancher
candy, and that's only a slight bit of hyperbole. Paul, I agree. I
think the problem is with the coating. These were clear -- but only
after much hard work to get them there. My wife's G4U glasses exhibit
the same issue, though they do not seem as flimsy frame-wise.

I don't know if I am doing a good job of describing this smeariness as
nobody else seems to get it, or be affected, or maybe is as hyper
sensitized to it as I am. It's not a cloudy sort of filminess, though
any sort of smudge is a bitch to wipe clean. It's more like, if you
rubbed it with a slightly greasy cloth. I don't know if I am making
sense, but what happens for me when it's present is diffusion or
arcing of light from any strong source, the sun or a bright lamp (or
God help me, a film projector). When I take the glasses off, and angle
them so the light is shining on the area in question, there's this
smeariness. Hey Ira, since you're the expert and I have no use for
these busted glasses -- assuming I have no recourse with G4U which is
what I am presuming -- maybe I will mail them to you. You can look at
what I am talking about and maybe tell me if I am insane. I don't
think I am because in my 40+ years of glasses-wearing I have never had
this problem before. But I don't know . . . I am thinking a pair from
another vendor will settle the question.
