I see so little written here about eyebuydirect that I had to chime- in. This was my first experience with them. I purchased glasses once before online, about five years ago, from 39dollarglasses and was pretty happy with the outcome.
Now, I need bifocals and eyebuy seemed to have the best prices for the lined kind. 1) Date ordered: Saturday, 11/22/08 2) Date received: Monday, 12/8/08. I would've liked them sooner, but - in eyebuy's defense - it was across the Thanksgiving holiday. Not in their defense is the order status section of their Web site. Even the day before I received the glasses, the site said status was "Preparing for shipment." Literally _minutes_ after getting the glasses out of my mailbox on 12/8, I got an email from eyebuy saying the glasses were shipped on Friday the 6th and I should be getting them soon! 3) Model, features, and price: "Jupiter" frame, titanium (but they look and feel just like standard metal frames) = $34.95, standard lined bifocal = $19, shipping was like $4.95 and 5% off the total by using the glassyeyes discount code. Total: $56ish. Obviously, this would've cost much more at a bricks-and- mortar store; how much more, I don't know. I also could've gone much less expensive at eyebuy if I wasn't intrigued by the titanium thing. 4) Summary of any contact you had with the retailer: See #2 above. 5) Packaging: fine. 6) Quality: The frames are a bit bigger than I expected (the smaller, the cooler, right?), but the quality is good. It's a new prescription for me, so it'll take some time to get used to. Both are no fault of eyebuy's. I'm happy with the frames, the lenses, the price and the experience and I would do business with them again and recommend them to others. With the money saved here, I think I'll try my luck with progressive (no line) bifocals. I couldn't stand them the last time I got them, from WalMart, also about five years ago. Eyebuy charges $39 for progressive lenses, Zenni only $29, so this time I'll give Zenni a try.
