I haven't bought glasses in 4 years, and things have gotten a lot more confusing since then. I've been to 5(!) eyeglass shops this year looking for glasses, and I've been told different things at each one.
I have a -8.5 prescription with an astigmatism correction. One place told me I can't wear rimless glasses but I can wear half-rims. Two told me I need full rims. Two offered to put me in rimless glasses. Yesterday I picked out a pair of half-rims thinking they'd be OK, but the optician told me the lenses are held in place by fishing line, making the edges thicker than they'd be otherwise. She thought they weren't a good idea, even though the lens width was narrow (45 mm) and I'd get high index (1.67) lenses. The rimless glasses I really like (at the place that will let me have rimless) are Airlocks. I didn't ask the price, I just had the feeling it would come in over $500 or $600. Anyone have any idea what my real options are? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
