Buying glasses has gotten a lot more complicated! I've been to 5 shops looking for glasses I like. I've always bought frames at the optometrist, but this year they just didn't have anything for me.
My correction is -8.5 with an astigmatism. At two shops I heard I need full rims. At two shops I was told I can go rimless. And at one shop I heard I can't do rimless, but they could put me in half rims. The one pair of glasses I loved was a rimless pair by Airlock. I didn't ask for a price, but I'm guessing it would be over $600. That's holding me up a little. :-) Yesterday I found a pair of Neostyle half-frames I like, but the optician told me that the lenses in them are held in place by fishing line, which makes the edges thicker, so no go even with high index lenses (anyone know if that's right?). I'm pretty frustrated, and I'm thinking of ordering online even though I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea. Does anyone have experience in ordering rimless or partially rimless glasses with a high Rx? Also, any recommendation for places send frames I already have for new lenses? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
