I really REALLY want mail-order glasses to work for me, but I am
getting a bit discouraged.

My Zenni frame #3157 "bendable memory titanium half rim" glasses
snapped in half in the exact middle of the bridge wire last night as I
was just putting them on. This is with my 5 month old, totally
pampered pair of "computer glasses". Bendable Titanium????? More
like cheap zinc pot metal. I hadn't even tweaked the nose pads even
though they were a bit wide, because I figured I would be VERY careful
with this pair.
This is a pair of glasses that took 6 weeks to get after submitting an
order in the first place.
They were a $35 pair of glasses (no frills, no bifocals even) and
lasted about what the price would imply.

My other attempt was at 39dollarglasses. I bought a pair of bifocals
from them for $100. Note I am not buying the cheapest frames from any
of these sources! The frame (Boston 3007) arrived pretty severely
bent and never really bent back to fully straight ( I was afraid to
push it that far). But I only wear that pair for bedtime reading and
leaving in my car at trailheads (car break-ins are a major
problem...wouldn't want to leave a $500 pair of glasses in the car)
since it was an experiment in bifocals and I found I really need to
stay with progressive lenses.
They also did well on the prescription though and shipping was a heck
of a lot faster than Zenni.

So I am thinking that maybe I still need to get my "good pair" at the
brick and mortar (sob, cry, whine) to get a decent frame. and get
"experiments" and occasional wear glasses through mail order?
Or does anyone have a recommendation for a source with RELIABLE
frames. Both frames LOOKED OK, but actual quality seems pretty bad.
I normally get a good 4 years out of my storefront bought frames, in
comparison.

I follow this forum a lot and have noted I seem to not be alone with
the "durability under normal use" issue.

Thanks for any insights or recommendations.
