I don't buy glasses too often...last 2 pair lasted me 6 yrs.....though
I know I should have an eye exam every 2 yrs (?) to check for eye
problems.

Here are the criteria and decisions I make as far as buying a pair of
glasses:

* I buy full frame wire type stainless steel frames due to the fact
that they can be easily adjusted...and despite their fragile
looks...they are fairly rugged. Frame materials other than ss tend to
corrode in my experience...plastic is not as adjustable.

* I have an interest in adjustment due to my experience that the ANGLE
of the lenses vs the earpieces us critical is getting clear vision.

* Another adjustment issue is the fact that being some kind of mutant
(?) one of my ears is slightly higher than the other...and also the
bridge of my nose is not exactly centered between my pupils....go
figure. With wire frames...these issues can be adjusted for.

* My PD is 63.5...which I measured by placing an mm ruler firmly on
the bridge of my nose...looking in a well lit mirror....and using one
eye, I line up the ZERO mark with one pupil...and then using the other
eye....look to see what my PD is. The main caution is to use only
that one eye to determine the number and too NOT move the ruler.
Looking into a mirror forces you to look directly at the eye at 90
degrees...giving an accurate PD. Best to try this several times to be
sure.

* So using info found on this forum....I look for frames that have
less than 45 mm wide lenses and bridge width ~ 20 mm or less. WHY?
Because this centers my eyes in the lenses. 45 plus 20 = 65
mm....only 1.5 mm more than my PD.

* The 2 pair I've ordered so far have been with 48 mm lenses and 20
mm bridges...causing my eyes to be off-center in the lenses. I've
only received the first pair so far and can see OK with them. Next
full vision single lense pair will be closer to ideal:

This frame is almost ideal by my criteria...ss full wire frames...Lens
width 46mm plus Bridge width 18mm = 64...while my PD = 63.5.

I prefer glass lenses...but they can shatter...so I may stick with
plastic...with triple coating. I ALWAYS use microfiber cleaning
cloths with these.

Some might not be happy with this style of frame. Feel free to
criticize my choices or methods before I order the next pair...maybe I
have something wrong?
