I think we need a "sticky" post with a list of all the lens materials, their index of refraction, their common names, and maybe some other information, such as lens thickness for a certain lens size and prescription.
Ross - if you're willing to get smaller glasses, you get more lens choices, because the lower index materials won't be too thick. My prescription is -6.50, and I tend to use lenses around 39-44mm wide. At that size, I can usually get away with using CR39.
